GEO Glossary

Sentiment

Sentiment describes how an AI talks about your brand: positive, neutral or negative.

At a glance

// sentiment at a glance
MENTION │ ├─ positive "considered experienced in GEO" ├─ neutral "an SEO consultancy from Berlin" └─ negative "some clients criticise availability"

Example

Two brands are named equally often. One is described as a recommendation, the other with a caveat. The mention rate is the same, the sentiment is not.

// example, simplified
> Which SEO consultancy in Berlin is good? Agency A is often praised for its experience. ◀ positiveAgency B is an option, but is described as ◀ negativeexpensive.

Why it matters for GEO

A mention with a negative tone can do more harm than none at all. Sentiment feeds on what is written about you online: reviews, forums, experience reports and articles.

In practice

GEO tools rate the tone of every mention and form an average, often on a scale from 0 to 100. More important than the value is which statements drag it down.

How it fits together

Sentiment rates each Mention individually. Together with Share of Voice it shows whether you’re named often and well. It is coloured mainly by the sources the model pulls in via Grounding as evidence.
