Which consultant fits you?
Most wrong decisions happen because the name comes before the question. Clarify first what you actually need.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?├─ not sure yet│ Assessment: Darius Erdt├─ quick second opinion│ Consultation: Jörg Zimmer├─ tech, shop, relaunch│ Technical SEO: Tim Berlin├─ strategy, team executes│ Content/GEO: Bernard Zitzer├─ someone who implements│ Hands-on: Marco Janck,│ Ole Roloff├─ small budget│ Coaching: Dagmar Podzun└─ international, English Data, English: Alex Bieth
Google advises interviewing potential SEOs before hiring: about examples of previous work, experience in your industry and how success is measured (Google Search Central). A good consultant asks you at least as many questions in the first call as you ask them.
No one can guarantee you #1 on Google. Whoever promises it is out.
What does an SEO consultant in Berlin cost?
In this list the range runs from €90 to €240 per hour. Ongoing retainers start at around €1,600 per month. The market for comparison:
| Source | Value |
|---|---|
| SEO freelancers DACH (freelancermap) | median €80 per hour, middle half €60 to €100 |
| All freelancers DACH (Freelancer-Kompass 2026) | average €103 per hour |
| SEO consultancies worldwide (Ahrefs survey) | average about $171 per hour |
| SEO freelancers worldwide (Ahrefs survey) | average about $72 per hour |
Consultants sit above freelancers because they usually sell strategy and steering, not execution hours. Whether that pays off depends on who implements on your side. The detailed comparison is in SEO consultant, freelancer or agency.
Method and disclosure
I included consultants who meet four criteria:
- Based in Berlin according to imprint or profile
- Individual rather than an agency with a team
- Own website with transparent services
- At least five years of SEO experience
All information comes from the consultants’ websites and their profiles in the CAMPIXX freelancer directory, as of 28 October 2026. The order is alphabetical by surname.
Disclosure
I am an SEO consultant in Berlin myself and I am on this list. Nobody paid for a spot on this list, and I earn nothing from any recommendation.

Why I am writing this list
To be honest: of course this list is also proof. Anyone who explains to others how to rank should be able to do it themselves. My goal is to get the best ranking with exactly this page, including against the colleagues listed here.
But in the long run a page can only win if it helps you the most. For me that is the core of SEO and GEO: satisfying the person behind the search as well as possible. That is why, in my view, this is the most useful overview of SEO consultants in Berlin there is.
And there is a collegial side. Every consultant here has different strengths. If this list helps you find the one who really fits you, even if that is not me, then that is value I not only appreciate but deliberately want to create.
FAQ
What does an SEO consultant in Berlin cost?
The consultants on this list charge between €90 and €240 per hour. Ongoing retainers start at about €1,600 per month. Some offer a free or fixed-price entry.
SEO consultant or SEO agency: which is better?
A consultant pays off when your team can implement and needs strategy. An agency pays off when copy, tech and links are to be outsourced at scale. Details are in SEO consultant, freelancer or agency.
Does my SEO consultant have to be based in Berlin?
No. Most of the work runs remotely. Being on site helps mainly with workshops, the kick-off and when several departments need to sit at one table.
How do I spot a dubious SEO consultant?
By ranking guarantees, secret methods and cold emails. Google explicitly warns against all three (Google Search Central).
